Cell Parts Analogy

The nucleus is like the headquarters of the factory because it controls and coordinates the whole cell in the same way that the headquarters controls and coordinates the activities of the factory.

The nucleolus is like the boss's office in the office because it makes ribosomes in the same way that it makes new rooms (by renovations) in the factory.

The ribosomes are like the crayon making rooms because it manufactures the proteins that are essential for cell growth and survival in the same way that the crayon making rooms make the crayons for the factory's money.

The proteins are like the crayons because it proteins help power the cell in the same way that the crayons in a way power the factory with the money.

The Endoplasmic Reticulum is like the carts/ forklifts because it transports the proteins throughout the cell in the same way the carts/forklifts transport the crayons.

The Golgi apparatus is like the packaging office because it exports the simple proteins throughout the cell in the same way the packaging office packages and exports the crayons to the outside world.

The cell membrane is like the metal fence of the factory because it protects the cell (only letting certain things in and certain things out) in the same way that the metal fence only allow workers with special passes in or out.

The lysosome is like the smelter because it digests food and waste (rejects) in the same way that the smelter smelts down broken crayons.

The vacuole is like the scrap yard because it stores excess food and waste in the same way that the scrap yard stores the extra broken crayons.

The mitochondria are like the nuclear power core because it powers the cell in the same way the nuclear power core powers the entire factory.
